Copper
Deloro (Copper Dene) and Richard Del Oro, Circus Del Oro, 1973.
Copper was born to circus parents, The Astoundez, an aerial trapeze act, in
the back of a taxi and in Piccadilly circus. She started work at five,
mainly in Scotland, as England had notoriously stringent rules against child
performers. She married a trick cyclist and began tight-rope walking and unicycling
as well as performing trapeze and aerial acts. Richard trained in ballet,
tap-dancing, unicycling, and juggling, and once, as part of his act, juggled
three sledgehammers.
