Carol and
Peter Jolly, Jolly's Mini-Circus, Fishguard, 1974.
Peter has been a circus performer for 28 years, during which time he has trained
a veritable menagerie of animals, including bears, polar bears, horses, camels,
zebras, llamas, dogs, birds, big cats, and, unusually, farmyard animals, including
cows, pigs, goats, and sheep. He was once knocked out by a friendly tiger
who delivered him a playful, if resounding, cuff to the side of the head.
Peter says he went out like a light as "it was like Frank Bruno hitting
you!" Fortunately this big cat was so tame that when Peter came round
the tiger was looking at him more in bewilderment than with ferocity.
