Circus Apollo was run by Debbie's father, Alan Mcpherson, at the time this
photo was taken. Debbie once had the unenviable part of assistant in the dramatically
titled 'Globe of Death' act. This involved nonchalantly standing in the centre
of a cage in which speeding motorcyclists whiz around, narrowly avoiding one
another – and, of course, Debbie. She is now retired from the circus
world and works as a florist in Blackpool.
