Elephants are usually amiable and intelligent – except when confronted with mice. Even Jumbo, the 11'4" 19th Century giant elephant, was rumoured to have been terrified when a mouse found it's way into his cage. Apparently it is the possibility of the mouse crawling near it's trunk and being inadvertently inhaled that causes it so much unease.
