Belle Vue, Christmas,
1971.
Belle Vue was an amusement park in Manchester known as 'The playground of
the north'. It was a permanent fun park with a zoo, side shows, and fairground
rides. It had a large multi-purpose hall, King's Hall, with a permanent
ring which played host to boxing and wrestling matches, concerts, and, at
Christmas time, a circus. Unfortunately, some short-sighted official gave
permission for it to be knocked down and replaced with a multi-screen cinema
and car park.
